2ND YEAR KNIT PROJECT AND EXHIBITION - GERMANY

Student Project for Cologne fair ‘Handarbeit’

22/23/24^th March 2013

‘Austermann’ is the Hand Knitting Yarn section of the Internationnaly renowned German ‘Schoeller Sussen GmbH’ yarn spinning company and they exhibit annually at the International trade show ‘Handarbeit’ in Cologne, Germany.

 

This year, in conjunction with the introduction of an Irish Tweed yarn into their range, Austermann invited our students to design and make a collection of garments illustrating the creative usage of their various yarns.

This was an elective project and a selection of 2^nd year Fashion students, working in teams, designed and produced six pieces for display. The pieces were made with a combination of hand knitting & machine knitting techniques, using a selection of yarns from the ‘Austermann’ hand knitting range.

The subsequent photo shoot was student led, with the students choosing models, styling hair and makeup.

The full collection of six pieces were on exhibit on the ‘Schoeller, Austermann’ stand at the Handarbeit fair in Cologne, Germany on March 22/23/24^th 2013.

HUNT MUSEUM EXHIBITION

Hunt Museum Collaboration with 2nd Year fashion.
Exhibition of work by 2nd year fashion students will be opening in The Hunt Museum on Tuesday 14th May at 4.00pm. The work is in response to the recent Sybill Connolly exhibition.

 

Vodafone DIT Finalists

LSAD  have four finalists out of ten in the Vodafone DIT competition which took place in Dublin on Wednesday night in The Helix. Well  done  to  Colin Horan , Nicole Jackson, Laura Jennings  and  Jordan Edmonds Moore.
The final is April 17TH in Vicar st.
