Visit from FASHIONCLASH

We  recently  had  a  very  successful  visit  from  Branko  Popovic  and  Nawie  Kuiper  from  FASHIONCLASH. FASHIONCLASH is an international and interdisciplinary fashion platform based in The Netherlands, with a main focus on new generation of designers. Main goal of FASHIONCLASH is to connect talent, various disciplines, cultures and reach a broad audience through the art of fashion. FASHIONCLASH provides the platform by developing and organizing projects where young designers / artists can show their work.

Catherine Kelly wins Oasis Design Your Future Award


Oasis, the contemporary, high street fashion brand in conjunction with Ireland AM, announced Limerick School of Art & Design graduate, Catherine Kelly as the winner of the ‘Oasis Design Your Future’ competition live on TV3 this week.



After a 4 week series on TV3’s Ireland AM, which started out as 10 contestants being put through rigorous fashion design tasks; this morning saw the final three contestants battle it out live on air for the coveted design prize in front of Clive Reeves Design Director of Oasis, Ian Galvin Chairman of Aurora Fashions Ireland and Irish designer of the moment Emma Manley!
Catherine will experience a once in a lifetime, in-house training at Oasis’ Head Office in fashionable Shoreditch, East London, shadowing the talented Oasis Design Director. She will work alongside the design team at Oasis’ Head Office in London for a year, and furthermore will now have the incredible opportunity to design her very own capsule collection for Oasis, retailing in Oasis stores across Ireland!

Alison McEvoy visits China with the National Tailoring Academy


Good luck to Alison McEvoy who is off   to Wuhan in China to represent Ireland an international student fashion competition. The very talented Alison will be on our postgrad Diploma course starting in January and although she'll be going as a student registered with the National Tailoring Academy in 2014 we can't take any credit for the wonderful collection she'll be showing which is her 2013 graduate LIT Limerick School of Art & Design degree collection based on the Kray twins.

Student work to feature on Nationwide


2nd  year  students  are  once  again  showing  their  work  at  the  Hunt  Museum, this  time  as  part  of  Limerick  Fashion  Festival. The  exhibition  featuring  the  work  of  Sybill  Connolly  together  with  the  students  designs  will  be  featured  on  Nationwide  on  Monday  the  4th  November  at  7pm.

International Fashion Students Awards


 
SOME of the leading young fashion designers from all over Europe will showcase their work at the Limerick International Fashion and Design festival.

LSAD  students  Meadbh  Lawless, Ciara  O'Toole, Orla  Doyle, Leanne  Ryan  and  Maisie- Kate  Keane  are  among  the  competitors  who  will  be  in  with a  chance  to  win   €10,000, plus an internship with THEIA fashion house in New York, headed by judge Don O’Neill.”


According to the Holman Lee Agency, which is organising the events from Tuesday, October 29 to Saturday, November 2, the highlight of the week will be the International Fashion Students Awards. This will take place at the Franciscan Church, Henry Street, on Thursday, October 31.
Agency chief Celia Holman Lee said the response from all the participating colleges has been “fantastic”.
“We have 19 colleges from Ireland, UK and Europe coming to Limerick to participate in the student awards on October 31. The response has been absolutely fantastic and it just goes to show the strong reputation that Limerick fashion has,” she told the Limerick Leader.
The judges of the fashion competition are THEIA creative director, Don O’Neill, New York; Brown Thomas creative director, John Redmond; The Sunday Independent and Life Magazine fashion editor, Constance Harris; and Limerick’s Leanne Moore.

Tickets  are  20  euro  and  available  from  the  Limerick  Leader  office  on  O'Connell  Street.
